Rain survival guide for Mumbaikars!


It's high time the rains have started. It's a fact about Mumbai that the monsoon season doesn't start until there are flooded roads, potholes, leaking ceilings,etc.
So here's some tips on how to survive rains like a boss in Mumbai...

Clothing
  • Avoid White clothes
  • If you are wearing formals,rain coat is preferable instead of umbrellas
  • Carry your formal shoes in a box to put in your bag
  • Carry umbrellas with hands
  • Always carry a extra polythene bag with you
  • Carry an extra dry T Shirt. 
  • Carry waterproof covers for your electronic stuff.( Even the Rs5 ones will work)



Travelling
Pedestrians as well as motorist face the most problems during rainy seasons. Do follow these tips
      Pedestrians
  • Always carry an umbrella even if it is not raining
  • Raincoats are much better options for people walking around in the rain.
  • Always walk on Footpath that are at higher level than the roads
  • Be careful from the potholes,as cars can splash the rain water on you. 


      Motorist
  • Full bodied raincoats or windcheaters are must for motorist.
  • Avoid wearing shiny shoes as it may get dirty anyway.
  • Avoid roads which are flooded.
  • Get your vehicles checked by the mechanic as motorpart are more likely to get messed up during the monsoon
  • Carry a good collection of songs to enjoy the rain also you won't get bored during the heavy traffics
  • Leave home at least 30mins before 




FOOD


The rainy season means extra care with eating habits.

* Avoid juices, golas or other items sold by street vendors.
* Eat raw fruits and vegetables only after washing them with clean potable water and peeling them. Avoid pre-cut fruits or salads made outside.
* Avoid seafood.
* Consume only pasteurised dairy products.
* Use clean eggs with intact shells.
* Foods from cans or packets that are leaking or bulging should be safely discarded.
* Cut down on fried snacks
