Watched "The Social Dilemma" which was conveniently recommended by the Netflix algorithm.
I'm sure Netflix is happy I spent my time consuming on their site instead of any of the other evil sites.
But besides that irony!
I work in Digital Marketing Domain, so there was very little new for me.
Regardless of that, I believe it's beneficial for more people to watch (especially those not in tech) to understand how these systems work and how much human nature can fall prey to them.
I personally try to follow the "push vs. pull" principle on social media.
I unfollow and mute everyone who talks about politics or other polarizing or sensitive topics. I don't want this "pushed" onto me without control.
If I want to inform myself, I "pull" intentionally. Whatever the future will be, regulation from the top or a sudden change in how big tech operates. It might help.
But what already works today is how I myself interact with these systems. I do have power over myself, it just needs a little more work and effort
But it's a start.
